Training

Simulation as
“Immersive Theatre”

IMMERSIVE LEARNERS ARE MORE CONFIDENT TO APPLY THE SKILLS THEY HAVE LEARNED.

Role-play is a common training tool because it’s more memorable than other traditional forms of instruction. Active participation leads to better outcomes. That’s why role-play is widely used in training for first aid , job interviews, phone conversations, courtroom preparation, and so much else.

Some employers take this a step further and recruit professional teams of roleplay actors to work with them. Law firms often do this for tribunal and courtroom settings. Power plants and other major industrial operations even build versions of their operation for preparedness coaching.

FEATURED TECHNOLOGIES:

  • Virtual Reality
  • Extended Reality
  • Immersive Sound
  • Multiuser

IMMERSIVE LEARNERS ARE 275% MORE CONFIDENT TO APPLY THE SKILLS THEY HAVE LEARNED. THIS IS A 40% IMPROVEMENT OVER CLASSROOM LEARNING AND 35% OVER E-LEARNING.

key aspects
of immersive
reality training

These are all, to varying degrees, effective but also can be very costly and inflexible. By the time actors have been brought in, scripts written, employees abstracted from work, the physical setup has been designed and built, the costs can be prohibitive. Also, dangerous scenarios can never be recreated accurately without putting the trainees in danger. All of this can be more effectively, and far more cost-effectively, replaced with Immersive Technology.

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT

The VR simulation MTX build for Highways England in 2020, includes scenarios used to coach Traffic Officer trainees during their Foundation Training. The system can be thought of as a theatre. The stage is a motorway, the props are environmental assets like trees, power lines, buildings to the side of the road, lorries, animals, spillages, and so on.

CONSISTENT TRAINING

With such a system training is flexible, can be incorporated into the training day/course or even normal working day. Once the simulation is built there is no need for lengthy pre-planned “Away Days”, it is flexible to the needs of the trainer and the delegates, is 100% consistent, can be used in as many ways and for as many times as it is needed without significant ongoing expense. And it is totally immersive, and far more effective than conventional methods.

TRAINING THEATRE

The system that MXT built can be thought of as a theatre; the stage is a motorway, the props are environmental assets (trees, power lines, buildings to the side of the road), lorries, animals, spillages, road users, and so on. At the push of a button the trainer can build their own scenario, on the fly, before joining the trainees inside the virtual simulation and coaching them. Traffic can be controlled, as can the weather and time of day; all elements of the “Performance” are managed by the trainer and, of course, the dangers and stress of working on a live highway are always present (virtually).

Flexible and Portable

The trainer can quickly and easily build their own scenario, before joining the trainees inside the virtual simulation to coach them. Traffic can be controlled, as can the weather and time of day. All elements of the performance are managed by the trainer, with the stress of working on a live highway always virtually present.
